Frequent Flooding

As evidenced by this photograph of the Mexican Baptist Mission on Second Street, residents' lives in Calle Dos were often complicated by frequent flooding of the Brazos River. The river periodically overflowed its banks until the construction of a larger dam at Lake Waco in the 1960s.
