Although it is unclear if Scott Joplin witnessed the locomotive collision or was told about the event, the great ragtime pianist and composer immortalized the crash through music. The piano piece, Great Crush Collision March, was copyrighted thirty days after the Crash at Crush in 1896, and was dedicated to the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad.
