Waco-based architect George C. Burnett designed the first building for the Central Texas Baptist Sanitarium. The building was five stories and 122 x 80 feet, with the possibility of adding a wing on each end. It was built of reinforced concrete and fireproof brick, and the design allowed for 104 total patient rooms.
