The Circle Drive-In, depicted above in a sketch by architect Jack Corgan, was owned and operated by the Underwood and Ezell Drive-In Company of Texas. The company held exclusive rights to the building and operation of Texas drive-in cinemas, thanks to an agreement with Park-In Theatres, Inc. of Camden, NJ., which patented the drive-in model in 1933. Park-In founder Richard Hollingshead was prompted to create the modern drive-in when his mother became unable to fit comfortably in movie theatre seats.
