Rich Field served as the catalyst for later commercial air traffic in Waco and Central Texas. Most Americans had never been in an airplane, and for the first time Waco residents could pay to take joy rides to downtown Waco and back. Eventually some planes out of Rich Field served over forty Texas cities for those who could afford the flight.
