Pirates player Tex Taylor remembered the 1954 team by saying, “It was just a great bunch of guys. You never heard a cross word from any of them… Normally in a ball club there is a lot of squawking, but that year they didn’t have it. They were a great bunch of guys and there will never be a team like that again.”
