The Imperial Night-Hawk was the KKK’s official national newsletter in the 1920s. It was a weekly publication out of Atlanta, Georgia and included news about Klans nationwide. The May 9, 1923, edition reported that “Indiana is now running close to Texas as being the strongest Klan state in the Union.” Klan couriers were known as “Night-hawks.”
