In 1984, Mayor Malcolm Duncan declared June 25-30 as Glass Appreciation Week in recognition of the importance of glass to the Waco economy. Displays on the art of glassmaking were set up at Richland Mall, and an open house was scheduled at Owens-Illinois on June 30, 1984.
