During his time in Waco, Griffin served as president of the Progressive Voters League, chairman of the Doris Miller Branch of the YMCA, and on the Board of Directors of Texas Southern University, bringing his expertise and experience to bear upon political, social, academic, and spiritual communities throughout Texas.
