Though Waco Hall now resides on Seventh Street and Speight Avenue, Baylor leaders and faculty originally campaigned for Fifth Street as the structure’s location. Dr. C.D. Johnson reasoned that Fifth Street would provide “easy access both for Waco and for the faculty and students, and in addition it will be the biggest asset to the university and to Waco there because it will be the central building for all academic life.”
