Reverend Dr. Martin C. Griffin worked closely with Reverend Cooper to advocate for residents impacted by urban renewal. In their efforts, they began researching urban renewal law at Baylor Law School and ironically, ran into Abner McCall, an advocate for the Baylor 1A Project.
