Lance Corporal Joseph Wynn Jr., a good friend of Sustaita’s who was killed in action in Vietnam, provided inspiration for the Waco Memorial. After Wynn’s death, Sustaita struggled with survivor’s guilt, and this motivated his efforts to honor the fallen.
