Cayetano and Leonarda Cruz ran their own store, also Cruz Grocery, at 827 S.  6th street. Like her grandchildren, Diana grew up visiting and spending time with her grandparents in a similar environment. The elder Cruzes closed their store amidst the declining health of Leonarda; she passed in 1964.
