A Suitable Job for a Woman

When House was named superintendent of the public schools, The Day wrote this: “There is no manner of doubt that the selection of Mrs. Willie D. House will give satisfaction to a vast majority of the patrons of the public schools. The lady is competent, experienced, reliable. A better selection could not have been made. The Day begs to congratulate Mrs. House upon the compliment paid her. Waco is the only city (of any size, at least) in the state that has a lady as school superintendent and it is an honor to Mrs. House that she is a lady.”
