From October 1942 to August 1945, the Bluebonnet Ordnance Plant had six lines of production and made a total of 13.8 million bombs and explosive boosters at the facility. The 18,000-acre Bluebonnet plant employed roughly 5,000 men and women and was referred to as a “city within a city (McGregor).” Since after the war, the property and its facilities continue to serve many ordnance-related and rocket-manufacturing purposes.
